User forum meeting

Join our user forum meeting on 15 May 2013 in Rotterdam ...

April 5, 2013,

To representatives of organisations concerned with GNSS in Agriculture,

It is our pleasure to invite you to a UNIFARM user forum meeting on 15-16 May 2013 in Rotterdam, linked to the Geospatial World Forum conference.

The UNIFARM Project (www.unifarm-project.eu) develops at this moment a user forum of agricultural users of GNSS. The forum expresses the ‘voice of the user’ concerning user needs and expectations from satellite navigation and its application in the agricultural domain. The forum will present these user needs to the space industry, the application developers, the science community and policy makers.

The User Forum is a selected group of key-stakeholders that will meet 2 or 3 times in the coming year to discuss GNSS applications and adoption. GNSS is a major enabler of all kinds of innovations in agriculture, including logistics, precision farming and parcel registration. The forum will create a set of harmonised user requirements, a research agenda, a policy paper and a collection of good practices to stimulate awareness and innovations in agriculture.

In order to meet stakeholders of GNSS applications in Agriculture, the UNIFARM project organises meetings, mostly in conjunction with other events, to address specific target audiences that visit these events. The first opportunity for this is the Geospatial World Forum from 13-16 May 2013 in Rotterdam (The Netherlands).

During the Geospatial World Forum (www.geospatialworldforum.org) a full day Agricultural Symposium is held on the 15th of May 2013, dedicated to the application of geospatial technologies in agriculture. In the afternoon there is a session dedicated to GNSS, which is organised in collaboration with the UNIFARM project.

The programme is as follows:

The working diner is the core of forum meeting; the other parts of the programme are optional. During the working diner we invite you to discuss specific topics at your table. The discussions will be reported back to all. The field visit brings the user forum to a nearby agricultural area where farmers collectively invest in GNSS based innovations.

On behalf of the UNIFARM project we invite you, or have done so earlier, to this User Forum meeting. At the end of this meeting, you can decide if you want to go further in the Forum. As a Use Forum member, the UNIFARM project supports you with information about the European GNSS programmes and innovation initiatives. Also we share best practices in different subjects. The forum will provide organised feedback to policy makers at national and European level on the state-of-play and foresights concerning GNSS based innovations in agriculture through a technology white paper and roadmap.

To overcome the inevitable temporal character of the project, UNIFARM strives to continue support of the User Forum after the project. We will inform you about our initiatives in this area.

We hope you accept this invitation.
