ABOUT

UNIFARM coordinates a user forum to present and defend the needs of farmers in the development of GNSS applications and services. It will also serve as a new dissemination channel to increase awareness.

UNIFARM brings together precision agriculture projects and farmer representatives from all over Europe. UNIFARM collects user requirements as well as user cases (motivations to invest) and presents them to policy makers in GNSS evolution and other policy areas. UNIFARM will disseminate this and other information to improve awareness. The project will provide a design facility based on the user cases to give firms the opportunity to benchmark their innovative application or services. UNIFARM aims at setting up a network that will remain after the lifetime of the project. The user forum is focussed on GNSS and farmers, which does not exist yet. The project will connect to other already established networks and platforms. Setting up this user forum will enhance the scientific and techn
ological excellence in GNSS in agriculture.

USER FORUM Meeting in Vienna

On 21-APR-2015 UNIFARM co-organises a workshop on precision farming. The workshop will make an inventory of the current precision agriculture solutions that have been proven to work, and of the needs and constraints of their users, in order to pave the way for a more extensive use of effective satellite services, whether based on EO or GNSS.

Size does matter: the uptake of GNSS

A RECENT SURVEY OF DUTCH FARMERS SHOWS THAT ALTHOUGH SIZE DOES MATTER, SMALLER FARMS CAN BENEFIT FROM THE UPTAKE OF GNSS

Global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) are a key enabler for precision agriculture. Driving on perfect parallel lines, avoiding overlaps and gaps in cultivation activities, and reducing driver fatigue through autopilot applications have been the main incentives for farmers to invest in GNSS systems.

USER FORUM

UNIFARM coordinates a user forum of agricultural users of GNSS technology. The User Forum aims to express and defend the needs of agricultural users towards GNSS technology and applications.

UNIFARM is carried out in the context of the Galileo FP7 R&D programme supervised by the GSA (Nr. 287206)
